New York University
The future of career paths.
NYU’s School of Professional Studies, Career Pathways Bridge Program brings together students from New York and Jamaica through shared learning, service and a commitment to creating more inclusive communities.
NYU students visited Sav Inclusive as part of a Global Field Intensive in Jamaica to experience our model of inclusive education firsthand, and explore how children with and without disabilities can learn, grow and thrive alongside one another.
Rockhouse Foundation leaders have since reconnected with NYU Bridge students in New York to continue that exchange, exploring what it means to build a career where “passion meets purpose.” Through this growing relationship, students on both sides are exposed to new perspectives, experiences and possibilities, reinforcing our belief that education can extend far beyond the classroom.
Jay Hatfield Family Foundation
Mainstreaming tech literacy and computer based learning.
Since 2016 the Jay Hatfield Family Foundation has provided the largest sustained grant for computer based literacy and numeracy in the Foundation’s schools.
It is implemented by board member Ian Coville. Every child from first through sixth grade at Moreland Hill and Little Bay devotes weekly hours to math and reading skills.
Since 2021 the grant has spearheaded the eSpark programme, remedying the learning losses of the pandemic, updating devices and paying for more reliable internet.
Expertise arrives. The lights still have to stay on.
Our partners bring therapists, training and devices. The Foundation still pays for the classrooms they walk into, the salaries, the meals, the water and the internet.
100% of your donation reaches the projects. Our overheads are underwritten by Rockhouse, Skylark and Miss Lily’s.
Howard University
Bringing the cutting edge of speech therapy to Western Jamaica.
The Psychology, Education and Speech Language Therapy departments of Howard University support the therapeutic needs of the Sav Inclusive School.
In 2019, Howard professors engaged 135 local teachers from the Savanna-la-Mar region in a two day professional development workshop. The work runs through Smiles for Speech, the non-profit arm founded by Howard alumnae to bring speech language therapy to the Global South.
The partnership is ongoing: conferences on strategies for teachers and parents of children with disabilities, training for our staff, undergraduate and graduate volunteer placements, graduate practicums, and the development of an online degree programme.
