Hurricane Melissa
When others raised, we delivered.
Melissa made landfall less than ten miles from the Sav Inclusive campus. Roofs came off, classrooms flooded, and therapy rooms and learning materials were destroyed. Almost USD$600,000 has been raised for school and community rebuilding, much of it by people who ran their own appeals and chose the Foundation to carry the money the last mile.
Merch drop
OVO x Vybz Kartel.
OVO and Vybz Kartel released a limited edition merchandise drop for Hurricane Melissa relief and named the Rockhouse Foundation as its beneficiary. A portion of every sale was donated to the Rockhouse Foundation’s Hurricane Melissa Relief Fund, raising nearly $40,000 USD to support relief and rebuilding initiatives across Western Jamaica. The campaign united OVO’s global platform with Jamaica’s spirit of resilience — channeling the reach of culture into direct, community-level impact.
Other relief initiatives
The Hurricane Recovery Fund.
Other fundraisers, large and small, route their Hurricane Melissa proceeds through the Foundation’s Hurricane Recovery Fund.
The fund rebuilds the Sav Inclusive School and provides emergency cash relief to the students, families and teachers hit hardest. The school reopened before many others in the parish.
Other relief initiatives
Bike Jamaica turns cycling into support.
From September 3 to 6, cyclists will take on a four-day, 450-mile journey around the island, traveling from Negril to Ocho Rios, Kingston and Treasure Beach before returning to Negril, to raise awareness and funds for communities still rebuilding after the storm.
100% of funds raised by Bike Jamaica will benefit the Rockhouse Foundation and our ongoing Hurricane Melissa recovery efforts, including rebuilding at Sav Inclusive and supporting students, teachers and families whose lives were impacted by the hurricane.
Other relief initiatives
WalkGood Foundation.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, the WalkGood Foundation stood with the Rockhouse Foundation and the communities we serve through a generous US$10,000 donation to support our hurricane recovery efforts in Western Jamaica.
Their support helped us move beyond immediate relief toward the longer work of rebuilding, restoring and strengthening the communities at the heart of the Rockhouse Foundation’s mission.
Everything raised lands in the same place.
A relief fund, a merch drop, a children’s book or a straight donation: all of it lands in Western Jamaica, where the Foundation has been at work for more than twenty years.
100% of your donation reaches the projects. Our overheads are underwritten by Rockhouse, Skylark and Miss Lily’s.
A children’s book
Henry the Rockhouse Pelican.
Henry the Rockhouse Pelican was written by journalist Alison Morris Roslyn and illustrated by Rachel Moss, and it was inspired by a real pelican rescue at Rockhouse Hotel. It is a story about family, friends and overcoming your fears.
The book launched at the Sav Inclusive School, where Alison read to the children in groups and every child at the school went home with a copy.
It is on sale on Amazon and in the hotels, and all proceeds benefit the Foundation.
